1. Agreement to these terms
These Terms of Use ("Terms") are an agreement between you and Gokazu ("Gokazu," "we," "us," or "our"), the operator of Befora, covering your use of the Befora iOS app, the befora.pro website, and any public portfolio page hosted at a befora.pro/handle address (together, the "Service"). By creating an account, installing the app, or using any part of the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, don't use the Service.
You must be at least 18 years old, or the age of legal majority where you live, and have the authority to enter into this agreement — either for yourself or on behalf of the business you represent.
2. What Befora is
Befora is a tool for people who do visible transformation work — contractors, technicians, and beauty professionals — to document before & after photos of a job, and to turn that documentation into marketing assets: branded collages, a short video reel, a client PDF report, a Google review request, and an optional public portfolio page.
The core capture and organizing features work locally on your device without an internet connection. Creating an account adds cloud backup, multi-device sync, subscription entitlements, and the public portfolio.
3. Accounts
An account is created through Sign in with Apple or another method we offer, and is tied to the email or identifier that method provides. You're responsible for the activity that happens under your account and for keeping access to your device and account secure.
One account is meant for one provider (a single operator or the account holder on behalf of their business) — the Service isn't built for shared team logins in this version.
4. Your content
"Your content" means the photos, videos, job records, client records, notes, and brand assets (logo, business name, colors) you create or upload while using Befora. You own your content. We don't claim ownership over it.
By using the cloud backup and sync features, you give us permission to store, transmit, and process your content solely to operate the Service for you — for example, to sync a job across your devices, to generate a collage or reel, or to render the images shown on your public portfolio if you choose to publish. We don't use your content to train AI models, and we don't sell it.
You're responsible for having the rights to any content you capture and upload — including making sure you have the right to photograph a job site and, where applicable, the people in it.
5. Client testimonials and consent
Befora lets you record a short testimonial from your client and asks you to confirm, at the point of recording, whether the client agreed for it to be shared publicly. That consent flag travels with the testimonial record and controls whether the quote, attribution, or clip can ever appear on your public portfolio or in an exported reel.
You are responsible for actually obtaining that consent from your client before marking a testimonial as shareable — Befora records your confirmation, but getting real, informed consent from the person in the video or quoted in the text is on you. Don't mark a testimonial as public unless the client agreed to that.
You can remove a testimonial or revoke its public-sharing status at any time from within the app.
6. Public portfolio
If you turn on publishing, finished jobs you haven't excluded appear on a public page at befora.pro/yourhandle, along with any consented testimonial quotes. This page is visible to anyone with the link and may be indexed by search engines. You choose your own handle (subject to length, character, and reserved-word rules) and you control the global publish switch and per-job visibility from Settings.
You can embed your portfolio on your own website using the embed script we provide; that embed pulls the same public data your portfolio page shows, and nothing more.
Don't publish a job or testimonial you don't have the right to make public, and don't use the handle or portfolio to impersonate another business or person.
7. Subscriptions and payment
The core of Befora is free, with no time limit: you can document jobs, capture aligned before & after photos, and generate outputs indefinitely. Your first three finished jobs produce outputs (collages, reels, PDFs) with no watermark. After that, free-tier outputs carry a small "Made with Befora" mark.
A paid subscription ("Befora Pro") removes the watermark and unlocks additional polish. Subscriptions are billed one of two ways, and both unlock the same account-wide entitlement:
- In the app, through Apple: billed via your Apple ID / App Store account (StoreKit), auto-renewing monthly or yearly at the price shown at the time of purchase, until you cancel. Apple's own terms and refund policies apply to in-app purchases; manage or cancel these from your device's Settings → your name → Subscriptions.
- On the web, through Stripe: billed via a card on file with Stripe, auto-renewing monthly ($19 USD) or yearly ($199 USD) until you cancel. You can request cancellation by contacting us (see §16).
Pricing may differ slightly between the two channels — the web price is generally lower because Apple charges a commission on in-app purchases that we don't pay on web transactions. We may change prices for future billing periods; where required by law or by Apple's guidelines, we'll give notice before a price change takes effect for existing subscribers. All prices and amounts in these Terms are stated in US dollars (USD).
Subscribing on either channel unlocks Befora Pro on every device you sign into with that account. Past jobs, photos, and generated outputs are never held back or deleted for not subscribing — the watermark is the only thing subscribing changes.
8. Acceptable use
Don't use the Service to:
- Upload or publish content you don't have the rights to, including client photos, videos, or quotes without appropriate consent;
- Misrepresent a before & after result — for example, publishing photos that aren't genuinely from the same job or the same provider;
- Harass, defame, or violate the privacy of any person, including a client shown in a testimonial;
- Attempt to interfere with, reverse-engineer, or overload the Service, including the public portfolio API or embed script;
- Use the Service for any purpose that's illegal where you or your client is located.
We may remove content or suspend an account that violates this section.
9. Third-party services
Befora relies on third-party infrastructure to operate: Supabase (database, authentication, file storage, and the public portfolio API), Apple (Sign in with Apple, StoreKit subscriptions, on-device speech transcription for testimonials, push notifications), and Stripe (web subscription billing). Your use of those features is also subject to those providers' own terms. We choose and vet these providers but don't control how they operate their own systems.
10. Intellectual property
The Befora name, logo, app, and website — apart from your content — belong to Gokazu. You're granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the app and website for their intended purpose. You may not copy, modify, or redistribute the app or website itself.
11. Suspension and termination
You can stop using the Service and delete your account at any time from Settings, which removes your cloud data and unpublishes your portfolio (photos and job records stored only on your device are unaffected and remain yours). We may suspend or terminate an account that violates these Terms, with notice where practical.
12. Disclaimers
The Service is provided "as is." We work to keep it reliable, but we don't guarantee it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that generated outputs (collages, reels, PDFs) will always render exactly as expected. Befora is a documentation and marketing tool — it doesn't guarantee you leads, reviews, or business outcomes.
13. Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by law, Gokazu is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service, including lost business, lost data, or lost profits. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose, or $100 USD if you're on the free plan.
14. Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms as the product changes. If we make a material change, we'll update the "Last updated" date above and, where required, notify you in the app. Continuing to use the Service after a change takes effect means you accept the updated Terms.
15. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Wyoming, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules, unless a different law is required to apply where you live.
